SINOPSIS

Some essential issues faced in mastering the English language include linguistic factors, particularly the emergence of interference from the learner's first language. This book addresses cases of English language proficiency based on the experiences of native speakers of Mandarese as their mother tongue. In connection with this, the discussion highlights are the interference of English phonetic systems on the Mandarese language.

The phonological differences between English and Mandarese will influence speech acts when individuals communicate in English. This is because linguistic behaviors often involve the alternation of linguistic elements between Mandarese and English, between English and Indonesian, and between Mandarese and Indonesian. Language performances colored by the phonological norms of Mandarese and English dimensions can lead to confusion in English communication. When using English, they adhere to Standard English, specifically the Received Pronunciation (RP) system.

The book "Interference of English-Mandarese Sound" has been compiled with the aim of assisting foreign speakers in understanding the Mandar language, as well as helping local speakers grasp a foreign language through examples. This book will greatly contribute to enrich the mastery of sounds, particularly in the context of language. To the best of the author's knowledge, the issue addressed in the research, namely "Interferensi Bunyi Bahasa Inggris-Mandar" has not been tackled before. If there have been previous studies, it is hoped that the discussion of this problem can complement similar research findings.
